David Garcia Berenguer
Engineering Leader
Building strong teams, scalable technology and effective engineering organizations.
01 / About
People, technology and product.
Twenty years in software, fifteen of them in leadership. My path moved from hands-on engineering into Engineering Manager, Head of Engineering, VP Engineering and Director roles across SaaS, blockchain, iGaming and eCommerce.
I focus on building strong engineering teams, improving delivery, simplifying complex systems and making pragmatic technical decisions that hold up against the business reality behind them.
Leadership is the main job, but I stay technically engaged — architecture, code reviews, and building things myself when it's useful. Lately that includes a lot of AI-assisted development.
02 / Impact
Selected impact
Led organizations of up to 30 engineers across multiple teams, including Engineering Managers and senior technical leaders.
Led carve-out from a monolith to microservices, cutting release cycles from weekly to daily while improving reliability.
Led the reimplementation of a mission-critical payment routing system in a high-throughput regulated environment.
Improved delivery lead time by 20%+ and led cloud optimization initiatives reducing infrastructure cost by ~30%.
03 / Principles
How I work
Context over control
Give teams clarity on the problem and the room to own the solution.
Pragmatism over process
Use the lightest process that still creates clarity, quality and predictable delivery.
Technical leadership without bottlenecks
Stay close enough to architecture to add context, while engineers own the decisions.
Build systems and people
Organizations scale when both the platform and the people operating it can evolve.
Continuous improvement
Treat effectiveness, technical debt and org design as ongoing product problems.
